Web Design
I live and work in Denver, Colorado, and have been designing web sites since 1998. I have made the move to standards based design, using html for content only, and css for all layout. Since you can now separate your content from your design, I am now able to help small businesses create great looking sites, where the business maintains control of the content very easily, and I maintian control of the style sheet, giving the perfect compromise between personal control (easy updating!) and professional looks. Not only does this make a better site and reduce costs, it automatically means that your sites are viewable/hearable by vision impared users as well as cell phone browsers, and other mobile browsing platforms; even those that have yet to be invented!
Starting Prices
- $500 for a simple static site. Usually called brochureware, and typically consists of 3-12 pages.
- $1200 for a complex dynamic site.
- You can add, edit, and update your content without any html or ftp knowledge.
- You can create classes of users that have different abilities (e.g. a school website where teachers have one level of access, parents a different level, and students yet a third)
- You can create communities where your users can contribute content without having full access to the site. (e.g. photo uploads, articles, etc.)
- Users can comment on your articles/blogs/products/whatever. You can control who can comment and filter or edit the comments easily.
- Allow users to rate articles/blogs/products/whatever using star ratings, up/down voting, or other voting methods.
- $1600 for the above with built in e-commerce that can include coupons, gift certificates, inventory tracking, and anything else you can think of.
Layout
I can help with page layout projects, from flyers to annual reports. I use Adobe InDesign, and can help with your own InDesign projects as well.
Drupal Themes
I am nearly done with my first Drupal theme:
Pioneer, and its first presentation subtheme:
Gunflower. It is a 1000px fixed width, one- or two-sidebar (left or right), standards compliant original page. I would love to get someone to try it out on a live site and give me feedback. The advantage to you would be free customization!
I have set it up so that the main theme is just layout, and the subthemes are just color and images. I will make more subthemes once the theme is done.
